The Surge of Python

In 2024, Python achieved a significant milestone by securing the TIOBE Programming Language of the Year award, reflecting a remarkable 9.3% surge in its popularity index. This growth outpaced other languages, with Java increasing by 2.3%, JavaScript by 1.4%, and Go by 1.2%. Paul Jansen, CEO of TIOBE Software, highlighted Python’s pervasive presence across various domains, noting its position as the default choice in many fields. However, he also pointed out areas for improvement, such as performance limitations and runtime error occurrences.

The TIOBE index evaluates programming language popularity by analyzing factors like the number of skilled engineers, available courses, and third-party vendors associated with each language.

Data is gathered from multiple platforms, including Google, Amazon, Wikipedia, and Bing, to calculate the ratings.
